Many people are inquiring about wedding gifts for Pastor Mankin & Lisa De Hope who will be married in California on September 10, 2011. There are several options for you. 1) At the Ordination/Installation reception on September 18, there will be a table in the Fellowship Hall where gifts for the newlyweds can be placed. They are registered at Amazon.com, Kohl’s, Macy’s and Target. 2) The church will be collecting money for a “Wedding Check” and donations for that can be put in the Sunday offerings in a marked envelope. 3) There will be a box located on the gift table at the reception on Sept 18 for greeting cards and/or gift cards (grocery, home stores, restaurants). If you cannot attend the reception, but wish to bring a gift or card, please see Kathy Lassman on Sunday mornings or contact the church office during the week. All items will be locked up until the reception.

Today, Students in Sunday School explored “Journey from Malta to Rome” from Acts 28:1-16. This account shares Paul’s layover following a shipwreck on the way to Rome. Parents might ask, “How does God use what seems like a disaster to spread His word? What opportunities does God give us to tell others about Jesus?”
We will be collecting school supplies for Lutheran World Relief through September. Please pick up a shopping list on the table in the Narthex.
Do you enjoy music? Would you like to ring handbells? Maybe a family member or friend would like to learn with you. The bell choir practices weekly and plays in both services once a month. If you’d like to learn to play bells, please contact Dorothy and we will arrange training.

NEW EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY “Law and Gospel” Part 2 (Thesis 10 to 25) taught by Jim Grant.
Knowing the distinction between Law and Gospel is an absolute essential -- first of all, for an understanding of the Word of God -- then, a proper application of it. Each of Wather's lectures are a "stand alone" thesis on a particular aspect of Law and Gospel; therefore, anyone beginning with thesis 10 will not be "lost" having missed the first 9. Interested in the class? -- see the sign up sheet located on the upstairs bulletin board and check with the office for the book purchase. Class begins Sept. 9 7:00 - 9:00PM
When your "back-sliding" loved one has stopped attending Worship service --

When your close (definitely un-saved) friend is on their death-bed and calls to see you ---

The heart is changed by: Law ( ) Gospel ( )
Do you enjoy sewing? Do you have a few extra hours? If you would like to sew "LWR backpacks" for school supplies, there are revised instructions on the table by the coffee bar.
