Mite Box Sunday - Don’t forget your mite boxes next week. You can leave them on the back counter in the sanctuary and pick up a new one to fill for next month.
The Sunday School lesson today recalls the wonderful account of Moses and the burning bush (Exodus 2:11-4:31.) Just as God had Moses remove the sandals from his feet, God in Christ removes our sins from us, making us fit to approach God and stand in His presence. Talk with your child about who makes us holy before God. Ask them to tell you the story about Moses and the burning bush. What did Moses have to do, and why, in order to be in God’s presence? Review the Third Commandment and its meaning from the catechism.
Deaconess Gail Ludvigson will be in town from November 17 - 28 and is looking for housing. If you have a room she could use, please contact the church office at 206.524.0024.
“Autumn Evening” will be held this Saturday, October 29 at 5 p.m. This is such a fun time of year and, back by popular demand, will be the Puppets Please Marionettes.. A sign up sheet is located on the upstairs bulletin board. We are asking for those attending with names starting A-M to bring a side dish & dessert and those names starting with N-Z to bring a salad and dessert. The “‘green’ kitchen crew” will be volunteering their time so please look forward to a call from Jeri Schy or Marjelee Murrell real soon.
Mekane Jesus Sunday School - thanks to additional volunteers, we now have enough teachers for a regular rotation, but it would be great to have a back-up. If you are interested in being available as an occasional back-up teacher, please contact Ann Melvin or Cheryl Kohring. Thank you.
Messiah’s Knitting and Sewing group has been busy this past summer. They made soft comforting flannel and knit blankets, hats, booties and burp cloths for infants at Seattle Children’s Hospital. They also made prayer scarfs fro the Chaplain’s office. They would be happy to have you join their group. Check out their display in the Narthex. A handout is provided that describes the details for making each item. Financial support, to cover the cost of supplies, is also appreciated. Want more information? Contact Jean Holtz, Kathy Lassman or Debbie Viets.
High School & College Freshmen! Would you be interested in an overnight trip? We are joining up with the youth from Shepherd of the Hills and heading to a retreat center near Cle Elum on November 19-20. The topic for the retreat is “Who Am I”. Check out the youth bulletin board for more details and to sign up. Questions? Call Pastor Mankin at 206.524.0024.
