Next Sunday (November 6) Daylight Savings Time ends. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night!

For November, we will be collecting toothbrushes, toothpaste and body/hand lotion for both Immanuel Community Services and Compass Cascade Women's Shelter.

Men’s Night out will meet at the Sand Point Grill (5412 Sand Point Way NE) Monday, November 7 at 6 p.m. Please RSVP to Brian Danforth.

Pastor’s AIC class will meet this Thursday at 7 p.m. with lesson 6, a study on “Jesus Christ” (Who He is and what He’s done.) Walk-ins are always welcome.

Mark your calendars! We will be having a congregational meeting on November 20 at 6 p.m. Please plan on attending this important meeting. Coffee will be supplied, please bring your favorite dessert. For more information concerning the meeting, please read the article from Neil Strege on page 4 of the November Messenger.

Ladies Night Out - November is the time for hearty rustic cuisine found at The Olive & Grape restaurant. Messiah will be having it’s Fall Clean-Up on November 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be both inside and outside jobs and a lunch to follow for all the hard workers! Please sign up on the upstairs bulletin board.

Mite Box Sunday - You can leave your mite box on the back counter in the sanctuary and pick up a new one to fill for next month. Thank you for your contributions to Mites for Missions.

The Sunday School lesson today is one every child remembers vividly; the story of Moses and the plagues on Egypt (Exodus 5-10). Through a series of horrific plagues, God punished the Egyptians for their sinful treatment of His people and freed His people from bondage. Talk with your children about what it means to be freed from the slavery of sin. Ask them to tell you about the plagues and talk about the power of God Almighty.

Messiah’s Knitting and Sewing group has been busy this past summer. They made soft comforting flannel and knit blankets, hats, booties and burp cloths for infants at Seattle Children’s Hospital. They also made prayer scarfs for the Chaplain’s office. They would be happy to have you join their group. Check out their display in the Narthex. A handout is provided that describes the details for making each item. Financial support, to cover the cost of supplies, is also appreciated. Want more information? Contact Jean Holtz, Kathy Lassman or Debbie Viets.

High School & College Freshmen! Would you be interested in an overnight trip? We are joining up with the youth from Shepherd of the Hills and heading to a retreat center near Cle Elum on November 19-20. The topic for the retreat is “Who Am I?” Check out the youth bulletin board for more details and to sign up. Questions? Call Pastor Mankin at 206.524.0024.

The monthly Bible Study hosted by The Mary/ Martha group (evening LWML) meet on the 1st Monday of each month. Come join us on November 7 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the choir room, there is always room for more! Kathy Lassman, teacher.

The Ladies Guild/Mary Martha Ministries and Messiah’s Social Ministries Committee are again sponsoring Messiah’s Annual Thanksgiving Cornucopia Food Shower. Donated items can be placed on the large table in the Narthex across from the cookie bar. Suggested items would include: dry cereals, cocoa, coffee, canned goods, sugar, flour, baking supplies, peanut butter, jelly, soups, canned meat and tuna fish. Deadline for bringing food in for the cornucopia is Sunday, November 20. All food will be on display in the sanctuary on Thanksgiving morning.

THE RADIO VOICE OF THE LUTHERAN FAITH FOR THE 21ST CENTURY...You can listen to teachings about The Sermon on the Mount, The Passover, Classical Education, C.F.W. Walther and more. LUTHER, The Graphic Novel, “Echoes of the Hammer” are on sale today during the Education Hour in the Fellowship Hall. This is the story, from birth to death, of Martin Luther who headed a revolution that changed the world. From a small town in medieval Germany, the Reformation resulted in dramatic, sweeping change that still echoes today. Here is Luther’s story of adventure, courage, and faith told for the first time in graphic novel style. It’s perfect for adults and children and the cost is only $10.00. We have 20 books for sale, and if we run out, we will purchase more. See Carole Martens in the Fellowship Hall to purchase your book today.

The church has been contacted by Judy Thompson’s family who have a few items they are trying to sell. Items are first come, first serve and are in “as is” type of condition/donation. For a list of items and contact phone number, please read the flyer posted on the upstairs bulletin board.
