The Sunday School lesson today, the children learned the account of the Passover, Exodus 11-12. This true story, about the night when the angel of death passed over the homes of God’s people who had painted their doors with the blood of a lamb, foreshadows Christ, God’s Son, who became the Lamb whose blood was shed for us. Jesus is our Passover Lamb, and thus we will never die - we have the gift of eternal life. Ask your children who give us the faith to believe that Jesus is our Savior.
High School & College Freshmen! Would you be interested in an overnight trip? We are joining up with the youth from Shepherd of the Hills and heading to a retreat center near Cle Elum on November 19-20. The topic for the retreat is “Who Am I?” Check out the youth bulletin board for more details and to sign up. Questions? Call Pastor Mankin at 206.524.0024.
The monthly Bible Study hosted by The Mary/ Martha group (evening LWML) meet on the 1st Monday of each month. Come join us on November 7 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the choir room, there is always room for more! Kathy Lassman, teacher.
The Ladies Guild/Mary Martha Ministries and Messiah’s Social Ministries Committee are again sponsoring Messiah’s Annual Thanksgiving Cornucopia Food Shower. Donated items can be placed on the large table in the Narthex across from the cookie bar. Suggested items would include: dry cereals, cocoa, coffee, canned goods, sugar, flour, baking supplies, peanut butter, jelly, soups, canned meat and tuna fish. Deadline for bringing food in for the cornucopia is Sunday, November 20. All food will be on display in the sanctuary on Thanksgiving morning.
The church has been contacted by Judy Thompson’s family who have a few items they are trying to give away. Items are first come, first serve and are in “as is” type of condition/donation. For a list of items and contact phone number, please read the flyer posted on the upstairs bulletin board.
This year for our Christmas project we want to say Merry Christmas to the men and women in our military forces serving in various countries. Working with LCMS Ministry to the Armed Forces, we will be collecting the items listed to send to chaplains who will distribute the items to the men and women in their areas. The DEADLINE for the collection of these items will be DECEMBER 4. In addition there are Christmas cards that you may write a note that will be sent with the collected items. If you would like to donate money the shopping will be done for you. (This project replaces the Lake City Children's Project)
On November 20 during the Education Hour, visiting Gail Ludvigson will give a short presentation (15 min) about Lutheran Bible Translator and her work there.
